Description

Up for sale is my Volvo S60 SE 2.4T Auto. I bought this car a couple of years ago and all I have had to to do it since buying it is replace the windscreen wipers and put a new set of tyres on it. It hasn’t missed a beat. It has covered 147000 miles and in that time it has had a service every 10000 miles. The service book stops the year before I bought it but I called the company who serviced it last and they confirmed it had a service with them that year and then again the following year (just before I bought it). It lived its life in Kent prior to my ownership so taking the service book back to the garage wasn’t something I bothered to do especially given the age and value of the car, but the garage said they would stamp it up if i took it into them. I also found out that the cam belt was replaced by Volvo main dealer not so long ago (again, by calling the dealership in the service book). When I bought the car I was told it was a obtained through a repossession, which, to me was a positive thing as the car had been maintained to a high standard and had not been run into the ground (the owner was obviously not anticipating parting with it!) Only selling due to upgrading our family car (Volvo V70) to an XC90 and therefore I am going to inherit the V70. GOOD BITS:2.4 5 Cylinder Turbo Petrol engine produces 200bhp and is cheaper than you might think to run due to the ever increasing price gap between petrol and diesel, plus the government have decided after all these years that diesel isn't what they cranked it up to be anymore and diesel cars are increasingly becoming subject to additional charges to visit citiesSet of 4 matching Uniroyal Rainsport 3 tyres (best grip I’ve witnessed from a tyre!) all with good tread, wearing evenly, fitted 10000 miles ago; I have receipt for £295.20 plus £47.94 receipt for wheel alignmentBosch Aero twin blade wipersLED rear number plate lightsAir con re-gassed last summer and still kicking out icy cold airBlack leather interior is in exceptional condition!Everything works as it should (heated seats, air con, electrically adjustable and heated mirrors, auto dimming rear view mirror, heated rear window, 4 disc in dash CD player and stereo, cruise control)Towbar fitted 18 months ago to allow me to use my small trailer for dump runs (of which I’ve only done a handful). Paid £275.2 fully functional keys with remote fobsMOT until 30/09/2019 - only covered approximately 4000 miles since (i only use it to go backwards and forwards to work in)Just 3 previous owners! Not so good bits:Bumper corners have some grazesSmall amount of laquer peel on lower part of OSR doorThere is slight delay when going into “Drive”. Although everything else to do with the auto gearbox is spot on; gear changes are smooth. I bought it like this and it hasn't deteriorated or changed in my ownership.Handbrake is not functional, it broke earlier this year, causing one of the rear wheels to lock up. The AA removed the handbrake shoes from both sides to get be going again but as its an auto, and I only drive it short distances to and from work, I've not looked into getting it fixed.I did a simple oil change on my driveway last summer so this summer it is due a more in depth service (if desired).Couple of advisories on MOT last year: 1. "Power steering pipe/hose has slight seepage" (easy fix, can see the seepage coming from the rubber hose at the bottom of the top up tank). 2. "NSR shock absorbers light misting of oil or has limited damping effect" again, cheap fix for a keen DIY'er using second hand shocks (although it probably won't fail the MOT on them this year, as its only covered ~3500 miles since the last MOT). Overall, this is a lot of car for the money; it is totally comfortable and effortless to drive what with the icy air con, cruise control and big Volvo heated leather seats. Being an older Volvo, it’s also bulletproof! If you need / want a cheap, reliable and hassle free car, that’s also luxurious and comfortable, this is perfect!
